Vimco: technology, reliability and support throughout the entire lifecycle
Based in Fino Mornasco, in the province of Como, Vimco has been designing and manufacturing secondary and end-of-line cardboard packaging systems since 1980.
We are a directly managed company, with our technical department, production and service all in the same headquarters . Every project we undertake stems from expertise developed in-house over time: complete lines since 2000, robotics since 2001 and vision-based systems for different products since 2013. We manage all stages of the process in-house because building quality, right from our very first machines, has always been the one factor we never compromise on. This is why, after more than forty-five years, we still work with many of the customers who chose us from the very beginning.
WHO WE ARE: HISTORY
AND INNOVATION
Vimco was founded in 1980 by Osvaldo De Bortoli with a clear objective: to build machines that adapt to each client’s specific needs. The first projects were stand-alone machines: forming and closing cardboard boxes. In 1985, we attended our first industry trade fair and began working with international customers.
In 1990, Daniela De Bortoli, now CEO, joined the company. In 2000, following Osvaldo’s untimely passing, Daniela took over. The method did not change, but the range expanded: we developed machines for product handling in the food sector. In 2001, we began in-house production of two-axis robots and developed our own software: from that moment on, we have supported clients directly, without intermediaries, with guaranteed response times. In 2012, we produced our first complete production lines, right through to palletising. In 2015, we invested in CNC machines to verticalise production and in 2020, the first machines with vision systems for managing multiple products combinations and the first monobloc lines were introduced. Today, the Fino Mornasco plant houses the management, sales and technical departments, as well as the CNC machining, assembly, testing and service departments. Since 1980, we have designed, built, and supported everything in our headquarters.

For us, building a machine is above all a responsibility. Towards the client, towards their process, towards the result they expect. We design every system with method and care, because precision in development is the guarantee of results in production. We listen, we design with care, we build to last. We do not stop at delivery. SUSTAINABILITY AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
In 2012 we installed a solar power system at our Fino Mornasco plant to reduce the energy consumption at our production site, where CNC machining and assembly lines operate throughout the day.
We build secondary packaging systems made from cardboard, a recyclable material that protects the product during distribution and is recovered at the end of its life cycle
From 2023, we are expanding and reorganising the plant: we enlarged the assembly and commissioning floor to give more space to machines and complete lines, we moved the CNC production department to a new plant, we are reorganizing and enlarging the offices for our growing team.
Quality and international certifications
Before any machine leaves Fino Mornasco, we carry out the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), which demonstrates to the client the actual operation of the machinery under the agreed operating conditions over a complete cycle. It is not a formal check, it is a step that allows us to verify performance in a controlled environment, identify any critical issues and reduce on-site commissioning times.
For the client, it means arriving at the installation site with a validated system, not a machine still to be configured on-site.

We work on complex industrial projects: every job starts in the engineering office, moves through CNC machining, internal assembly, and testing, and continues on-site during commissioning.
Departments are integrated: whoever joins one learns how the entire process works. This is the way we work and the way we want the people who join us to work.
